Why Some People Don't Get Better

Many people in the United States and elsewhere have disease symptoms that just do not go away. They visit doctor after doctor in search of answers. Many of them have Lyme disease*, the number one vector-borne** disease in the world. Besides being pervasive throughout the United States, it's found in almost every country on the globe---everywhere there is forest and or even just high grass.

Called the "Great Imitator", this malicious disease can mimic many other chronic illnesses. It can cause muscle cramping and weakness, psychiatric conditions including depression and anxiety, and significant memory and concentration problems, even mimicking early dementia.

To make matters worse, inaccurate testing---combined with an ongoing scientific and political debate that questions all chronic infection---makes it difficult for sufferers to find appropriate care. Unfortunately, delayed or inadequate treatment often leads to more serious symptoms that are disabling and difficult to treat.

When our author, Joyce Gioia, met Dr. Richard Horowitz, MD, one of the foremost experts in the world on this disease, he had just come back from China. (Thank you, Boardroom, Inc.!) He went to China to help the government determine how they could treat their growing Lyme problem. She sat spellbound, as he described the nightmarish scenarios of misdiagnosis and suffering that his patients went through before they had found him.

He described a product, which, if applied to the bite site right away, may have the effect of neutralizing the infection with heat. Eighteen months later, Joyce found the product on television. It's called Therapik and it is being marketed as a heat source that neutralizes the effect of mosquito and other insect bites. (See below to order.)

Dr. Horowitz started his medical practice over two decades ago; he soon realized that many of the chronic disease diagnoses people received were the result of Lyme. Moreover, he discovered how, in the absence of identification and timely intervention, once-treatable infections could cause disabling conditions. Now having treated over 12,000 patients, Dr. Horowitz has made extraordinary progress.

Scheduled for release on November 12th, Dr. Horowitz has written a new book titled, "Why Can't I Get Better: Solving the Mystery of Lyme and Chronic Disease" (Macmillan, 2013). In this groundbreaking book, he lays out a 16-Point Differential Diagnostic Map, the basis for his revolutionary Lyme treatment plan. Plus, there's an overarching approach to treating all chronic illness that helps cut through the frustration, misinformation, and endless questions about Lyme and other chronic illness.

Lyme disease is clearly one of the worst chronic illnesses plaguing humankind. Our forecast is that many of the strategies and tactics that Dr. Horowitz has discovered to treat Lyme disease may be applied to other, previously untreatable chronic diseases, especially those that involve spirochetes similar to those that cause Lyme disease.

*Lyme disease is an infectious disease caused by bacteria and transmitted to humans by the bite of a tick. It is named after the towns of Lyme and Old Lyme in Connecticut in the US, where was first identified in 1975.

**"Vector-borne" means "transmission of an infectious bacteria or virus that happens when an insect or animal bites or touches a person".
