Under his leadership, Baptist Health South Florida was recognized multiples times by FORTUNE Magazine's Top 100 Places to Work, by Working Mother Magazine, and by the American Association of Retired Persons.

- Past Chairman of South Florida Hospital and Healthcare Association; Executive Committee member since 1998.
- Regional Policy Board member of American Hospital Association for Southeast U.S. 2001 - 2003.
- Board member of Florida Hospital Association, 1998 - 2001, including chairmanships of FHA Quality and the Public Task Force, Nursing Advisory Council, and Patient Care Advisory Committee.
- Past President 2000-2001 of The Florida Sterling Council; Board member since 1994. The Sterling Council is the official public/private partnership of the State of Florida for encouraging and rewarding quality and performance improvement.
- Past Chairman 2000-2001 of The Beacon Council, Miami-Dade County's official public/private Economic Development Organization; member of Beacon Council Board of Directors since 1996 and Executive Committee since 1998.
- Founding Chairman of The Coalition of Miami-Dade County Chambers of Commerce, with over fifteen chambers of commerce from throughout Miami-Dade County, Florida.
- Past Chairman of ChamberSouth, (South Dade Chamber of Commerce), with 3,000 members during chairmanship. Received L. Russell Norton Award for community service in 1996.
